Why We Do This.

A Letter from the Founder and CEO

I understand how hard it is for nonprofits to raise funds. As a professional nonprofit fundraiser for the last 10 years, I’ve seen the challenges that nonprofits face, whether it’s raising money through annual or flash campaigns, donor events both large and small, raffles, silent auctions, live auctions…you name it. An “all-of-the-above” strategy is the best option, and Executive Directors and Development/Advancement teams struggle to find new and exciting ways to keep their donors engaged. The struggle is real, as they say.

Also, as a former jewelry business owner, I always wanted to find a way for my business to give back to the community in meaningful ways. We tried through giving a portion of proceeds or donated items, but the right model was always elusive.

When I retired from the jewelry business in 2016, I embarked on a journey to bring my business knowledge to the world of nonprofits and found a home in the world of fundraising. I am grateful to the hundreds of people I met along my journey and the invaluable advice and context they gave me as I soaked up as much as I could learn. But the truth is that one must learn fundraising by doing it. Only after years of serving on fundraising committees, campaigns, one-on-ones with donors, seminars, and strategic training sessions did I really understand how hard it is for nonprofits to make an impact in the world and how important fundraising is.

There is no mission without the means.

When the idea of Gold4Good came to me recently, I realized that forming this public benefit company was the ideal way for me to use all my skills and experience to make a real impact, and I became obsessed with the idea of transforming all the unwanted jewelry in the world into something more precious…the power to change lives.

Gold 4 Good is cause agnostic. I firmly believe that people want to make the world a better place, but people feel challenged by limited resources. Gold 4 Good allows people to easily turn their unwanted items into a way to help their favorite causes; children, animals, the elderly, the environment, poverty, hunger, homelessness, illness, science, personal and religious beliefs, inclusion of all humans, the many faces of diversity, equity in all forms, and accessibility for those of us with needs that are not universally met.

Please consider joining this sustainable and ecologically friendly movement to create impact where it is needed most. Your old jewelry can be a life-changing gift to your favorite organization.

If not now, when?

Thank you.
